We’ve made a few video tutorials to help support you in using Blackboard 9. These video tutorials are made using a technique called screencasting, where a programme records what someone does on their computer screen, and then turns it into a video. You can also add audio to them during the production process. We’ve focused on three key areas:
In addition, Blackboard, Inc., the company that makes Blackboard has created a series of screencasts for other features of Blackboard 9. These screencasts are not as accurate in terms of looking like shuspace or the names of some options. We’ve customised our version of Blackboard 9 based on focus groups with staff so the language is more intuitive and in keeping with the ways we use Blackboard. This includes some changes to language and settings, so you may see things have slightly different names in these screencasts from Blackboard, Inc.
Screencasting is also a technique that some tutors are starting to use for teaching purposes. It has been used to create short videos of particularly challenging content, give an overview of a Blackboard site, and provide feedback to students by talking through student papers while marking them on a computer.
