In recent years e-learning has become an essential part of our students’ learning experiences. However e-learning is constantly developing and changing, so we have to ensure our e-learning practice is prepared to meet the needs and expectations of tomorrow’s students.
This year we want to refresh e-learning practice across the University to ensure it continues to effectively enhance the student experience. To help facilitate this there will be a comprehensive range of staff development opportunities on a variety of e-learning topics including innovative online teaching practices, the value of online feedback for students, and understanding the role of technology in the student learning experience.
To support these goals the University needs appropriate tools, so we will be upgrading to Blackboard version 9 in summer 2010. The new version has a more modern, user-friendly interface and additional functionality for teaching and learning to support the student experience.
Further information about this e-learning staff development programme and Blackboard 9 will be communicated throughout the year.
