Windows 10 rollout – important information for academics

The University is currently in the process of upgrading all PCs to Windows 10 ā€“ a vital move as most modern software is now designed for Windows 10 and as such, Microsoft will soon be withdrawing support for Windows 7. The upgrade will also enable us to provide the next generation of Office 365 tools to all staff and students.

The upgrade of student PCs is expected to complete by the end of September 2019. Please note that this includes all classroom and teaching PCs and we therefore recommend that you check the compatibility of all teaching materials (presentation slides etc) before using them. Any materials previously created on a Windows 7 device should be checked on a Windows 10 device in order to avoid any disruptions to teaching at the start of the next academic year.

Please visit the Windows 10 blog for further information on what to expect once your PC has been upgraded. If you have any questions, please contact IT Help via email or x3333.
