UNIFORM & PLACEMENT KIT INFORMATION

The University will supply you with your allocated allowance of placement uniform. This allocation should last the duration of your course, however, you can purchase additional uniform direct form the supplier should you need. Please ensure you read this page in full; if you need further information regarding uniform please contact us or visit us in F306 of the Robert Winston Building.

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU ATTEND YOUR UNIFORM FITTING WITH THE SUPPLIER ON THE DATE YOU ARE TIMETABLED. IN SEPTEMBER WE PROCESS OVER 700 STUDENT UNIFORM REQUESTS AND A FURTHER 200+ IN JANUARY. IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR ORDER DURING FITTING WEEK...

Your uniform will not be included with the bulk order therefore not fall into the booked manufacture, packing and delivery schedule agreed with the supplier

Delivery of your uniform may be delayed

You will have limited time to resolve any faults or exchanges

You may not have your full uniform in time for your first placement

TROUSER LENGTH

Don’t worry about the length of the trousers, they all come long length and unhemmed so you can tailor them exactly as you need them, hemming tape will be provided.

SIZING

The size you need may differ from your usual size in high street clothes. These are working garments and you will need room to move comfortably.

UNIFORM CARE

Students are responsible for cleaning and repairing their uniforms. Uniforms should be washed at 60 degrees for a minimum of ten minutes. All uniforms supplied to students are suitable for washing at this temperature.

If you can’t move your hands around in your pockets, Bend and squat comfortably, Stretch and raise your arms above your head, then it’s probably too tight for the work you will be doing.

DELIVERY & EXCHANGES

Your uniform will be delivered to SHU and you will be given a collection location, date and time once we have confirmation of the manufacturing timetable from our suppliers. Please try on EACH & EVERY ITEM as soon as possible (a small changing area will be available on the collection day) to check for faults as well as fit. Please note that trousers come with hemming tape for you to adjust. Exchanges for any garments that are faulty or don’t fit can be arranged with the supplier on the day of collection. If you are not able to try on all the garments on the collection day, you will have 72 hours to return your uniform along with the returns form (reverse of the delivery note) to SHU (Technical Resources F306) who will arrange transportation back to the supplier and coordinate a new collection time.
