The Department of Nursing and Midwifery and the Department of Allied Health Professionals hosted a two week visit of 11 students and five academics from Suzhou Health College, China. The students are currently undertaking a diploma in either nursing or rehabilitation studies at Suzhou Health College and are hoping to come to SHU in September 2018 to undertake a BSc (Hons) Health Studies in either nursing or rehabilitation. The visit provided the students with the opportunity to experience British culture, to experience Sheffield and SHU and also to experience different approaches to teaching. The students also delivered presentations on what they love about Sheffield.

The academics were also interested in observing different approaches to teaching but also to explore the differences and similarities between China and the UK’s healthcare provision. They had the opportunity to visit the Hallamshire and Rotherham hospitals, observe multidisciplinary team meetings and to visit a community centre.

This visit helped the students and staff from both sides to explore different ways of working, as well as for SHU staff to show our delegates from China what makes Sheffield so great! We are looking forward to welcoming our students in September 2018 to show them even more that SHU and Sheffield has to offer.
