Work on the STEM project will begin over the August Bank Holiday weekend. During this time, the main contractor will gain access to the site and start preparing for the first phase of work. This involves closing off the main concourse access between the Sheaf and Eric Mensforth buildings. Hoardings will be erected around the site and alternative access routes will be identified, with new signage in place to direct people along these new routes, which will be fully operational from Wednesday 2 September 2015. The buildings will remain accessible to wheelchair users.

The other work that will be undertaken over the August Bank Holiday is the renumbering of the floors in the Eric Mensforth building (EMB).  As the project involves building a stunning new atrium between Sheaf and Eric Mensforth buildings, with a link bridge between the buildings at Level 2 of Sheaf, it makes sense to seize the opportunity to renumber EMB to align the levels across the buildings.

The Timetabling team has been involved in these discussions to ensure student and staff timetables for 2015/16 are correct and reflect the renumbered levels.
