Rory Ridley-Duff Inaugural Lecture: Diversity, Co-operation and the FairShares Model
Friday 31 August 2018 6pm, Stoddard Lecture Theatre – 7140
In his inaugural lecture, Professor Ridley-Duff will track how changes in the field of social enterprise over the last 15 years necessitates the definition and development of cooperative social entrepreneurship (CSE). Internationally, the impulse for social enterprise arose out of changing attitudes to charity trading, the revival of the cooperative movement and a growing interest in the private and public sectors in social business and sustainable development. Highlighting the cooperative origins on the social enterprise movement in the UK, he will track how resistance to the narrative advanced by New Labour after the 2002-03 Community Interest Company (CIC) consultation led to the formation of a new network of academics and practitioners that developed a ‘FairShares Model’.
