Have you ever thought of becoming a school governor, but didn’t know how or wanted to find out more about what the role entails?
As part of SHU’s transforming lives strategy and our South Yorkshire Futures regional social mobility programme to raise aspirations and attainment in the region, we are launching a scheme to actively encourage and support staff to take up school governor roles.
Becoming a governor is a rewarding experience that offers you a chance to give back to your community and support raising educational attainment in the region, as well as to further enhance your professional and personal development. Find out more about how you can develop a range of skills such as; strategic leadership; project management; budget control; teamwork and communication; problem solving, and much more.
Anyone can become a governor. School governing boards need people from different backgrounds with a wide range of professional skills to drive school improvements from across South Yorkshire. If you are not sure if your skills and experience would suit the role, why not come along and find out more: you might be surprised.
If you would like to learn more, come along to our Governors drop ins for staff on 25th June at 12 – 2pm, Atrium Level 5, City Campus and 28th June at 12 -2pm, HOTC, Collegiate Crescent.
