All Sheffield Hallam University staff have now been transferred to the new phone system (Unified Communications). To enable the University to benefit fully from the features and functionality of the new system, we will be making a change which means you will only be able to dial emergency and key internal help numbers from desk phones until you have logged into the phone. This will not affect your ability to make calls through Jabber.
From Monday (14 May), you will be able to dial 0 for switchboard, 888 for security, 3333 for IT Help, 4444 for FD Helpdesk and 999 from a logged-out phone. Connection to all other numbers and features, however, will not be available from standard desk phones until you have logged in.
You will still be able to access your voicemail from any office phone on campus, including logged out phones.
This change is needed to help the University to fulfil licensing requirements, prevent calls being made from unsecured phones and manage bills. For more information about Unified Comms and its features and benefits, visit the Unified Comms help pages.
