Team Hallam gears up for the Sheffield Half Marathon

On Sunday 8 April at 9:30am, a team of 24 staff will set off from Arundel Gate and take on the climb of the fantastic Sheffield Half Marathon! The Development and Alumni Relations Office organise the annual staff event to raise money for the Hallam Fund.  Team Hallam runners have been busy over the last few months training and fundraising. Everyone running has committed to raising at least £120 each and the overall team target is £5,000. See who you know in Team Hallam and show your support, by either donating to an individual via their Just Giving page or donate to the team here. This year your donations to Team Hallam will be directed to the Estranged Student Transition Fund and help even more students who are not in contact with their parents settle into life at University.

Dr Helen Quirk, Researcher in the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science (CSES), approached her fundraising target by organising a grilling pub quiz. Teams from CSES and the Sport Injury Research Centre (SIRC) went head-to-head. We’ve heard it was seriously tough, with mind and memory tested. Team SIRC took the glory though with a 3 point lead AND clinched the bonus round (the closest guess of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s chest size at his physical peak – 57 inches apparently). Quiz participants donated an entry fee and showed their support for Helen and the Hallam Fund and achieved her target in just one night! Well done Helen and thank you to everyone who took part.
