General Data Protection Regulation – New messages to appear on SHU websites

Preparing the University’s websites for GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on the 25th May and this will affect the way we protect, collect, store and use personal data. more information on what the GDPR is and how it will affect us at SHU can be viewed here.

As part of the University’s work to ensure we are collecting, protecting, using and storing personal data correctly, Digital Technology Services will soon be deploying messages (privacy and cookie statements) to websites looked after by SHU to explain how we use that data.  Anyone external to the University who submits a form containing personal data will need to consent to having those details collected and know how the data will be used. You may have noticed cookie messages and pop ups being displayed on many of the sites you visit on the internet.
