An A-Z of Creative Teaching in Higher Education – Book Launch

An A-Z of Creative Teaching in Higher Education

A new publication by Rachel Stone (ECI) and Sylvia Ashton (formerly at SHU) was launched at an event in Hallam View on 15 February. Attendees enjoyed a number of presentations on a variety of topics, all of which can be seen in the video linked below.

Below is a write up of the event from those behind the launch.

Current participants on the PGCert Learning and Teaching in HE course Jing Wang, Rebecca Wright and Paul Greaves each spoke about their personal views on the purpose of higher education, while Sue Beckingham discussed the use of social media to celebrate and promote teaching and learning.

The final presentation, by Provost Christina Hughes, was an innovative performance piece entitled ‘S is for Silence’. This included 2 minutes of silence and a poem written by Christina and performed with Sylvia Ashton. It was a very powerful and creative addition to the event.  A interactive poster exhibition designed by Rachel Stone, based on themes from the book, was on display over drinks and nibbles, and the whole event was much enjoyed by all. The book is available at the Collegiate and City university libraries and may be ordered here (use discount code UK17AUTHOR for a 25% discount).
