Changes to absence recording process

In June we advised of a change to the absence recording process. As of 1 August, the SHU21 absence process has been replaced with new functions in Core Portal.

From 7 August the following changes will be applied to the Employee and Manager Portals:

Changes on Employee Portal: In your employee portal you will see a new section called Working Days. This is a calendar showing which days you normally work and which days are non-working days. You will also be able to see any sick days and other information that has been recorded on your record in the Core System. Examples are when you have booked onto a course via employee portal, or any other absences that have been processed such as maternity leave or paternity leave.

Important: There will be no change to any arrangements that are already in place for notifying your manager that you are off sick.

Changes on Manager Portal: If you are a Line Manager you will have received detailed information through the HR Brief about how to access the new functions in Manager Portal for recording sickness absences. Further information is available on the Recording Sickness Absence page.

Each Faculty and Directorate have existing arrangements in place for circumstances when a manager is not available to speak to or record the absence. If these arrangements have been amended as a result of these changes, you will receive an update locally.
