What are we doing?
This summer the University is changing the method for recording sickness absence from the existing paper based forms and returns to direct input into the Manager Portal in Core. This means that the SHU21 process will end and be replaced with new functions within the CorePortal.
Why are we doing this?
This will be a quicker, easier and more secure way to record sickness absence.
What are the benefits?
- Employees will be able to see their own sickness absence record in their employee portal.
- Managers will be able to see their team’s sickness absence record in their Manager Portal.
- Reports relating to absence will be up to date because it can be recorded as it happens.
- There will be no need to complete paper forms, saving time and improving accuracy.
What is happening next?
More details about changes to the portal will be available in E-View next month.
If you are a line manager you will receive more detailed information in your HR Brief in July. This will also include information about the absences other than sickness that are captured on the SHU21 forms.
