Changes to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) process

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), helps employers make safer recruitment decisions especially for roles involving work with children or vulnerable groups.

We have made a series of changes to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) process to ensure that the University is fully compliant with the DBS requirements and to streamline our process, whilst also making it a better experience for staff and candidates.

What this means for recruiting managers?

The Recruitment team will advise managers throughout the process but they may need to start the planning process for roles that require a DBS check earlier. This is to allow time for the DBS check to be completed prior to the proposed start date.
