Student Wellbeing is holding an Open Door event for staff and students on Wednesday 21 September 10am – 4pm at Student Wellbeing, Level 1 Surrey Building, City Campus.
Practitioners will be available to talk informally about what the service offers to students and staff, and there will be external providers and activities to promote wellbeing including:
- South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association (SYEDA)
- Sheffield Health and Social Care (Alcohol and Non-opiate Drugs Services)
Other activities include cycling to produce a tasty drink on our Smoothie Bike, getting active with Hula Hooping and 5-minute mindfulness taster sessions throughout the day. There are also new and updated leaflets and booklets available.
You can come along to a staff update session which will cover changes to the way students access the service and how referrals are received, updates on the Supporting Students in Distress Guide and an overview of 2016-17 group sessions for students. Sessions will be held in Surrey 5121 from 10.15 – 10.45 and 11.15 to 11.45
There is also a Q&A session with the Chaplain Q&A in Surrey 5121 at 10.45 – 11.15

From 26 September students will need to register online via SHUspace to access the service. Online registration will replace contact appointments and referrals from faculty and central support services so please do not signpost students to contact appointments or email referral forms to reception after this date. Staff who have concerns about a student can still contact reception to speak to a duty adviser between 2-4pm on weekdays.
We also have a new series of weekly group sessions for students which can be booked via shuspace which include:
- Mindfulness
- Managing your low mood
- Managing your anxiety
- Assertiveness and confidence skills
- Responding to transition & change
