Removal of Quick Time from the 2016 Managed Desktop

IS&T is planning to remove the QuickTime media player from the 2016 PC managed desktop (which will be rolled out to University computers in July).  This is because Apple has dropped its support for the Windows version of Quick Time and is not fixing current issues. Please consider this when preparing your teaching materials for the next academic year and check whether any videos or audio files you use require it for play back.

IS&T will be investigating alternative media players and, where possible, will be contacting staff who they know currently use files which need Quick Time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact ithelp@shu.ac.uk.

More information about the contents of the 2016 managed desktop will be released shortly.
