Summary of change
In order to bring the University in line with the HE sector and to comply with accreditation requirements of some Professional Bodies, the Level 7 pass mark is moving to 50%. The pass range will be 50 – 59%, merit range will be 60 – 69% and distinction remains at 70% and above.
This does not mean that the University is raising the threshold for passing level 7 modules; the quality of work produced will receive a higher numerical mark based on a new mark scheme (assessment previously allocated 40% will receive 50%).
What’s different?
- Academic staff will allocate marks for Level 7 assessment based on the new mark scheme.
- Professional Services staff need to be aware of this change when advising students on regulatory issues.
