University’s response to meningococcal and other communicable diseases

As we start another academic year, staff are reminded that the University has an action plan for dealing with meningococcal disease (meningitis and/or septicaemia) and other communicable diseases (TB, measles, mumps and rubella).

Information about the plan is available on the University Secretariat’s webpages.

The action plan includes a form for recording reports of possible cases of meningococcal disease. When receiving a report of a possible case it is important that Public Health England has as much information as possible to determine whether the ill person has meningococcal disease.

For more information about the plan please contact Angela Temple in the University Secretariat on ext. 4590 or a.temple@shu.ac.uk.
