A new approach to Health and Safety

A new simplified online safety system is being introduced at SHU. This will help managers and staff meet the legislative requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and comply with the University’s policies and procedures.

On 18 September, two new modules will be rolled out – a DSE module and a fire e-learning module. Two further modules – incident reporting and risk assessment – will be introduced later this year and early next year. The new system is being used by other Universities and we have invested in it to replace some of our processes and reduce paper. All communications required to complete the DSE process will now be sent and stored online and risk assessments will become more accessible and relevant.
