Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre to announce first major partner

On Thursday May 14 Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) is announcing that Toshiba is its first commercial partner.

The AWRC is set to become the most advanced research and development centre for physical activity in the world and will play a leading role in revolutionising sport, health-care, physical activity and leisure. Our engineers and researchers will work in collaboration with Toshiba and similar organisations in the private sector to design new products and services from initial concept all the way through to market.

Officials from Toshiba will be flying into Sheffield to sign a deal worth approximately £1.5m. The signing ceremony with Professor Philip Jones, Vice-Chancellor, and the Rt Hon Richard Caborn, will take place at the English Institute of Sport.

We are informing you ahead of a media announcement tomorrow and we ask that this is not shared on social media until then.  More information will be available on the Media Centre tomorrow.
