WEST Film Night – 20 Feet from Stardom

The WEST (Women in Engineering Science and Technology) Fund was established in memory of Ros Wall who was instrumental in setting up a range of local and national projects to encourage women and girls to take up careers in non-traditional roles in Science, Engineering, Technology and the Built Environment.

Please join us for our annual fundraising film night. This year we’re showing the amazing, Oscar-winning 20 Feet from Stardom on:

Monday 24 November
5.15pm for drinks – Room 221 on the second floor
6pm for the film – The Void Cinema on the first floor

The film follows backup singers and stars Darlene Love, Judith Hill, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Táta Vega, and Jo Lawry. As well as brilliant music and stunning singing, the film touches on questions of race and gender stereotyping.

We will also be celebrating our seven bursary award winners for 2014.

The event is free and everyone is welcome, but seats are limited so please let us know if you are coming by emailing wiset@shu.ac.uk.

More information is available on the WEST website.
