Keep your personal settings on different University PCs

IS&T is providing a new service which lets staff and students keep their personal settings and desktop shortcuts on different PCs around the University.

This will improve the teaching and learning experience because personal application settings will be retained between sessions so staff and students won’t need to re-configure them each time they log in.  It will also improve the time it takes to launch some applications.

The new service, which uses new Microsoft technology known as ‘User Experience Virtualization (or UE-V), will be rolled out to staffand students across the University from 21 October.  This service is already in use for the Staff Remote Desktop and was used for saving Visual Studio settings in a few Labs last year.
