Win with SHU and Off The Shelf! (now closed)

The University is proud to sponsor this year’s Off The Shelf festival of reading and writing in its 23rd year in the city.

As ever, the annual Sheffield festival is welcoming a host of well-known names in literature and the media between 11 October and 1 November at venues across the city.

Sheffield Hallam is a Gold sponsor and is hosting a number of events including Lord Digby Jones, Alan Johnson MP and leading neurosurgeon Henry Marsh, as well as a full day of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of poet Dylan Thomas.

The festival has grown into one of the UK’s most popular and exciting events attracting big names and audiences of all ages taking part in a variety of author events, workshops, debate, exhibitions, talks and poetry.

This year’s festival includes events with Kirsty Wark, Allan Ahlberg, Arne Dahl, Yotam Ottolenghi, Paul Merton, Wendy Cope, John Lydon, Viv Albertine, Julian Cope, John Julius Norwich and many more.

Staff and students with NUS cards can purchase tickets for the Lord Digby Jones and Henry Marsh events at the special discounted price of £5. When buying your ticket, just quote the SHU offer and produce your NUS card. You can get tickets in person at the City hall box office or by calling 0114 22 33 777. Tickets are also available of the door subject to availability.

To whet your appetite, eview has a pair of tickets to give away for Lord Digby Jones on 8 October in the Pennine Theatre, City Campus at 7pm and a pair to see Henry Marsh on Saturday 11 October in the Pennine at 7pm.
