University’s athletes receive Sport England support

Aspiring athletes at Sheffield Hallam University are benefiting from the University’s selection as a Sport England Talented Athlete Support Scheme Accredited Centre (TAC).

Sport England has awarded the University TAC status for the next year, meaning more Sheffield Hallam students will receive support in furthering their sporting careers while completing their studies. And other talented athletes in the city can benefit from the University’s facilities and expertise through the scheme, as long as they are in education.

The University has supported more than 100 students through the scheme so far, and it has helped 15 students this year, in sports ranging from hockey to snowsports. Previous participants in the scheme include England Table Tennis star Dan Reed, who won silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
