Brendan Dawes – Dot Dot Dot Exhibition

14 February – 30 March, Sheffield Institute of Arts Gallery, Cantor Building
10am – 5pm daily (and until 8 on Wednesdays)

E.E. Cummings once described the falling of snow as “carefully everywhere descending”. To designer Brendan Dawes, data acts in the same way, falling around us every second of the day, waiting to be scooped-up, held in our hands and used to create something new. In this new exhibition Dawes shows how he uses data as a clay-like mouldable source material; from machines that print-out happy feelings to iPhone apps designed to capture the now, to graphic images that interpret millions of pieces of data. Dot Dot Dot explores a designer’s response to the ubiquitous data and networks that pervade our everyday lives.
