Student Barometer survey

The Student Barometer survey is live with just two more weeks to go.

The support of staff is critical to the success of the Barometer. Please do all you can to inform students about it and encourage them to participate.

Materials are available for staff to use in communications to students at: https://staff.shu.ac.uk/marketing/shsbpromo.asp

The survey covers the four main aspects of the student experience – arrival, learning, living and support – to establish a complete picture of what students think across all levels and modes, for both UK/EU and International. It is a benchmarked survey, allowing comparison with other UK universities, but also providing a suite of questions specific to Sheffield Hallam.

Data from the survey can be interrogated to Faculty, department and course level through our online tool –  interact – please contact Market Intelligence for details.

The response rates by Faculty are available on the staff home page of the intranet, with breakdowns by department, international/UK students and mode/level of study on the Barometer intranet site (see link below).

The survey also allows students to nominate up to two members of staff (academic or non-academic) for an Inspirational Teaching Award. They are asked to nominate those who have had an inspirational or transformative impact on their student experience, inside or outside the classroom, and this can be anyone from Sheffield Hallam.
