Lone working
Tuesday 5 November, 9.30am – 11.30am – City Campus

This training course is for members of staff who might regularly or occasionally work alone.

The course aims to provide knowledge about the risks associated with lone working and how to reduce them.

•           To provide a definition of a lone worker
•           To outline the risks associated with lone working
•           To indicate the effective control measures
•           To provide examples of communication systems and devices

First Aid at work annual refresher
Tuesday 5 November, 1pm – 4.30pm – City Campus

This course is for holders of a current First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification

This course will offer the First Aider the chance to update their skills and techniques. It will also incorporate Automated Defibrillator (AED) training/refresher.

The cancellation of this course must be before 10 days in advance of the start date.

Please make sure that you have your manager’s approval to attend this course

Control of contractors – Light touch
Wednesday 6 November, 9.30am – 10.30am – City Campus

This course is the lighter touch version of the Control of Contractors policy and is suitable for Managers or persons who are responsible for the introduction of contractors onto University sites and explains the reasonable steps they should take to ensure the arrangements properly manage the risks to students, staff and visitors presented by the contractors.

Course objectives are to understand the role and responsibilities of the person managing the contract and the extent to which they need to go to.

To go through the step by step guide to controlling contractors:

1) Contractor selection
2) Pre-site preparation
3) On-site activity
4) Post contract review

Note: This course is not suitable for FD Estates or IT installations, they should attend the theree-hour  detailed course.
