Don’t miss world famous authors at SHU

Veteran war reporter Kate Adie is among the highlights of this year’s Off The Shelf festival of words for which Sheffield Hallam University is a gold sponsor.

The former BBC chief news correspondent, broadcaster and author will be a guest in the University’s Pennine Lecture Theatre at City Campus on Saturday 12 October to tell the story of the First World War through the eyes of women, unearthing in fascinating detail the struggle for admission into the world of men.

Other special guests include authors Roddy Doyle (The Commitments; Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha) on Monday 14 October and Jung Chang (Wild Swans) on Tuesday 15 October.

The festival runs from 12 October to 3 November at venues across the city with a variety of events for all age groups.
