New Deputy Vice-Chancellor

The university is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Liz Barnes to the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Barnes is currently Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Derby where she has worked for the last three years, playing a key role in shaping the academic portfolio and enhancing student satisfaction.

Previously, she spent 23 years at Teesside University, where she had a range of different roles and was most recently Dean of Social Sciences and Law. Whilst at Teesside, she also led the development of e-learning and internationalisation across the university.

Originally from Staffordshire, Professor Barnes started her career as a PE and Maths teacher, her passion for teaching has continued throughout her roles in Higher Education and she was appointed as the first University Teaching Fellow in 1998.
