Cross-faculty research opportunity – September event

The IMAGINE project is a University-supported initiative for staff to develop innovative multi-disciplinary research projects which have the potential to attract external funding and produce outputs that will contribute to the University’s research profile.

The Vice-Chancellor has pledged £250,000 over the next year to fund IMAGINE projects under the theme ‘connectivity’.

Research staff at all levels across all faculties are invited to bring their ideas to a ‘sandpit event’ where people come together to form interdisciplinary research teams and develop their ideas.

The event will take place on the evening of Thursday 19 September and all day Friday 20 September. The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 11 September. You are advised to book early as last year’s event was oversubscribed.

Following the event each team (which must include members from at least two research groups/institutes or disciplines) will be asked to complete a short application for funding. Members of previous IMAGINE funded project teams may apply, though they should form new teams and develop new projects.

Applications will be considered by the IMAGINE executive group:

Prof Nicola Woodroofe and Dr Karen Collins, HWB

Prof Peter Wells, D&S

Prof Alan Smith, Prof Ian Gwilt, ACES

Prof Ilfryn Price, SBS

Resources will be allocated to successful proposals by November with projects to be completed by the end of June 2014.
