A collaboration between Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield Theatres, Jack Steele and Family is a brand new play by world famous playwright John Godber (Bouncers; Teechers; Up ‘n’ Under)
Directed by Sheffield Hallam lecturer Neil Sissons, Jack Steele and Family is the bitter-sweet story of a proud Sheffield family man who owes everything to his Steel City roots; roots that his family now want him to leave behind.
In this Centenary year of the discovery of stainless steel, the play looks at what steel has meant to the city and its people.
Godber’s new work mixes his trademark humour with powerful emotions, offering a poignant performance that will be certain to delight audiences with its local references and other observational comedy.
The professional cast for the play includes Ian Reddington (aka Tricky Dickie in EastEnders); Sue Cookson (Casualty, Holby City, Emmerdale, Bodies), Finetime Fontaine, and Rob Angell.
Many of our students are actively involved on and off stage and lecturer Maureen Barry is producing.
