Staff and students take to stage with world-famous playwright

3 July

A world exclusive performance of a brand new John Godber play involving students and lecturers from Sheffield Hallam is coming to the Crucible next week.

The internationally renowned playwright is working with the University on Jack Steele and Family, a funny and moving story about a former steelworker whose heart belongs to Sheffield’s industrial heritage but his family has moved on.

The play, which runs from Friday 12 – Saturday 20 July, is part of the city’s celebrations of the centenary of stainless steel.

The play will be directed by Neil Sissons, who spent 25 years as artistic director of Compass Theatre Company and is now a senior lecturer in performance at Sheffield Hallam. A number of students will take on some supporting roles behind the scenes and performance students have small roles in the play itself.

The play runs from Friday 12 July to Saturday 20 July inclusive at the Crucible Theatre. Tickets are £14 (with £2 off for concessions). Contact the Box Office on 0114 249 6000 or sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
