This course is intended for those people who are required to carry out tasks involving manual handling as part of their normal duties.
Course objectives
- To raise awareness of the risks associated with manual handling
- To provide an understanding of the basic principles of good manual handling techniques
- To provide the knowledge necessary to carry out a simple manual handling risk assessment

- To define and explain “manual handling”
- To outline how the law applies to manual handling at work
- To outline the function and shape of the human spine
- To explain the main reasons why manual handling injuries occur
- To teach the basics of positive handling techniques
