We are piloting a piece of software called Adobe LeanPrint within the University. This helps to save paper and ink for the printing you do. It’s a simple piece of software to use and automatically optimises each document to make savings without compromising readability. Settings are adjustable so you can decide how strong you want the paper and ink savings to be and you can see reports of how much you’ve saved as you go along. This video shows how the software works and our user guide gives you basic instructions.

What if I ask for it be installed and then don’t like it?  Do I have to continue using it?

You can revert to conventional printing at the touch of a button and print as you’ve always done for a particular document – and if you want us to remove the software altogether from your computer for any reason, we can do that. We think you’ll find it useful though – it’s very simple to save ink and paper when printing Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations – and if you sometimes print email chains or webpages, LeanPrint will remove unnecessary space and lay them out in a more efficient way.
