‘Demystifying the challenges facing BME students on practice placements’

The departments of Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Health Professions, Social Work and Social Care and the Professional Issues Team are hosting a conference on Friday 2 November 2018 to explore a number of issues relating to BME students’ experience in practice placements and the relationship to their fitness to practise. This event has been organised in response to a range of activities taking place across the university addressing the BME attainment gap and broader experiences.

The purpose of this conference is to explore and share the challenges faced by BME students in placement and will include invited speakers who are experts in their fields.  The speakers will be followed by lunch then workshops exploring different aspects relating to the students’ placement experience.  The event is for Faculty and practice placement staff that have an invested interest in supporting students, including those from BME groups.
