Helping you to Move More: what’s on

We are into the second full week of Move More Month so we thought it may be timely to share what is going on around the faculty.

Botanical Walks – Every Tuesday
SHU Wellness are putting on a  weekly escorted lunchtime walk from Collegiate Campus to the Botanical Gardens, where the focus is on accomplishing the Active 10 (part of PHE One You campaign) which centres on sets of 10 minutes of moderate intensity activity (eg. brisk walking). This is taking place each Tuesday (5,12,19,26 June): meeting outside the staff entrance of Collegiate Hall (front of building) at 12.55pm for a prompt 1pm start (approx. 30 min walk). No booking required – just turn up. Walking is at individual’s risk.

Desk Yoga – Every Wednesday
Every Wednesday, Jasmine Chew of the Faculty Operations Team puts on a half an hour session of desk-based yoga. It is accessible to all and free to attend. Please drop Jasmine an email at j.chew@shu.ac.uk if you wish to attend.

Health Checks
Staff can also have a health check if you’ve never had one before, where you will receive lifestyle advice. If you already attend SHU Wellness then you might like to book a Physical Activity or Healthy Eating one-to-one appointment. Hallam Active
Hallam Active have a number of initiatives that you could advertise to staff which include the Social Sport timetable for the Summer (attached) and also their fab offer of  £30 for 3 months gym membership. The deadline is the 15th of June to receive the full 3 month offer.
