After Lizzy Yarnold bagged gold in Pyeongchang, Dr John Hart, a senior research fellow at the Centre for Sports Engineering, explains how skinsuits are designed for skeleton drivers to ensure an optimised performance, including creating a 3D model of the athlete’s body to be used for virtual wind tunnel experiments. Dr Hart has previously developed and tested such materials for Team GB athletes in previous Winter Olympics.
