That’s right it’s back! It’s the one event where it doesn’t matter if you go home for 4 weeks at Christmas because you don’t have classes.
This year there are over 50 cabins and attractions all along Fargate, around the Peace Gardens and outside of the Town Hall, including the Christmas bar! Things officially kicked off on Wednesday 15th November and the market will be around all the way until Christmas Eve, so there’s plenty of chance to have a look around.
Opening times:
Sundays – Wednesdays – 10am-6pm
Thursdays – Saturdays – 10am-8pm
Granted not all the stalls and attractions will appeal to students – although I’m not judging if you want to pay a visit to Santa’s Grotto but, there are lots of stalls for getting gifts for loved ones and friends for Christmas. I know it’s November and everybody is skint by now, but not everything involves really pushing the boat out.
From Tuesday 21st November, the legendary THOR’s tipi bar arrives and that’s here in Sheffield until New Year’s Eve. Grab a craft beer, mulled wine or hot chocolate and feel like a proper Viking.
Also, don’t miss the Christmas lights switch on. Okay, it’s going to be incredibly cheesy but it’s all family friendly, silly fun! The Moor has a Christmas Party going on as well as the Christmas tree lights switch on from midday on Sunday 19th November. Then there’s the official Sheffield City lights switch on, featuring panto characters and everything!
So, grab yourself a bratwurst, sit on Santa’s lap, grab a beer in THOR’s Viking tipi like the Vikings did and enjoy the cheesy Christmas lights switch on. It’s the most wonderful time of year!
