Try something new at sports day!

Join us for a free and fun afternoon with Hallam Active’s sports day!

It’s a great chance to try a new sport and meet new people, as well as just to keep fit this summer! There will be a range of sports on offer, including badminton, basketball and table tennis so there’s something for everyone.

This event is free, so just turn up on the day on Monday 3 July between 1–4pm at Collegiate Campus sports hall.

Trip to Manchester and Old Trafford

Join us for a trip to Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, the biggest football club in the world.

Imagine yourself as Jose Mourinho in the dugout, visit the trophy room and sit by the peg of your favourite player in the dressing room.

After the tour, we will head to Manchester city centre with its wide range of shops and leisure attractions.

The cost of the trip will be £22, and tickets can be bought online.

Trip to Graves Park and Bishop’s House

Join us for a trip to Sheffield’s biggest park!

There is plenty for you to visit and explore, including formal gardens, a rare breeds farm, ancient woodland, a cafe and more.

We will take the bus there so please bring £4 for a return bus ticket. You must register your interest with us here before the trip.

Meet our student crew at the Main University entrance,  Level 5 Owen building on Saturday 1 July at 10am, returning around 2pm.

Student Support Services closed on Wednesday 21 June

The Student Support Services and International Experience Team will be closed on Wednesday 21 June due to staff training.

The International Experience Team daily drop-in will also therefore be cancelled, so please make arrangements to come to Tuesday or Thursday’s session.

Our team and the reception will re-open at 8.45am on Thursday 22 June.

Available online over the summer? Become a mentor to new incoming students online!

Join our summer online mentoring scheme (July – September) as a mentor!

Student Connect provides any incoming student with the opportunity to be matched with a student currently studying at Sheffield Hallam or a recent graduate, who can answer any questions they have about living and studying in Sheffield before they arrive at the University.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor for Student Connect, you do not need to be available on campus. You can provide individual mentoring support from your home town or country to up to five mentees (depending on the demand).

As a mentor, you must be positive, helpful and professional, as you are a representative for the University.

When you are matched, you will receive an email with their contact details. You’ll agree the best form of communication such as, Skype, Facebook messenger or WhatsApp, and the best date and time to talk with each mentee.

The scheme runs from July until September so you will have the opportunity to speak with your student mentees on several occasions before they arrive.

Discussion topics may include
• What they should bring with then from home
• accommodation options and how far they are from campus
• travelling to the campus and around the city
• buying food and eating out
• what they can see and do in Sheffield
• how easy it is to make friends from around the world
• and any other questions they have

At the end of the scheme certificates will be available for those who fill in a short evaluation form.

The deadline to apply is Sunday 23 July  at https://sumac.ac.uk/account/sheffield-hallam-university/scheme/151 (for new members only) or https://shusls.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3knUztz73iytBs1 (for previous Culture Connect members only).
