There are so many exciting projects you can get involved with at Sheffield Hallam University. To showcase these projects we are organising a SHU GoGlobal fair where you can talk to people who have taken part.
Contributors include students who have been involved with,
– Setting up a social enterprise
– Bringing TEDx to Sheffield Hallam University
– Erasmus exchanges abroad
– Campus jobs
– Balloon Kenya project
– Culture Connect
– Setting up a Students’ Union society

A big congratulations to Jessica Neves from Brazil for her winning blog entry! Jessica wins an iPad mini.
‘Studying and working in Sheffield Hallam gave me so many skills that now I am so much more confident in life. My English is so good now. When you think about it: How was I was capable of having a boyfriend from Germany? As he said to me one time: “I never thought that I would fall in love with someone that didn’t speak my home language.” We talk and understand each other so well that we have no problem with communication. Congratulations to our Andrew Bromley!
Last night Andrew Bromley from
the International Experience Team collected his fourth Inspirational Teaching Award for Outstanding Student Support, as nominated by students.
‘Andrew is one of the nicest people I’ve met here at Hallam. International students are not treated as a group – each one of us is treated individually. He has motivated me to get involved with activities.’ Student comment.
As he has won the award consistently for four years, he received a special Vice-Chancellor’s Award.
Well done Andrew!
Sheffield Pride Festival

Sheffield Pride is back for 2015!
This year the festival is moving and it will take place at Sheffield Students’ Union at the University of Sheffield. Pride is taking over the entire site (and it’s a BIG site!) to bring a whole day and night of fun, activities, music, and loads more.

Share your experience of going global to inspire others and you could win an iPad mini.
The SHU GoGlobal blog competition is to create an online blog about your experience of internationalising while being a student at Sheffield Hallam University. Internationalising is the process of gaining an understanding of other cultures and developing a global outlook.
The brief is to create an online blog which records the best stories from your time at Sheffield Hallam or your study/work experience abroad and the impact the experience has had on you and your future.

Understanding coping and wellbeing in International students
A Sheffield Hallam research team are looking for International students to participate in focus group discussions which will be about an hour in length.
This research aims to understand the experiences of International students coming to study at Sheffield Hallam University. The researchers want to understand the challenges these students face and the positive experiences they have.
The groups will be held in the Owen Building on
Tuesday 26 May
Group 1: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Group 2: 3pm – 4pm
Wednesday 27 May
Group 3: 2.30pm-3.30pm.

The knowledge generated will assist us to improve the student experience.

Call for participants
International Student Well-being Research Project
Can you help?
Researchers at Sheffield Hallam University are conducting a study about the challenges and positive experiences of being an international student at Sheffield Hallam University.
Participants are needed to take part in Focus Groups to be held at the Owen Building in the afternoon of Tuesday 26th May (Focus Group 1: 1.30pm – 2.30pm, Focus Group 2: 3pm – 4pm) and Wednesday 27th May 2015 (Focus Group 3 – 2.30-3.30). You will only need to attend one Focus Group.
The Focus Group will be small (only 4-6 students) and will be relaxed and informal. They will take only one hour.
This research is important to improving the experience of international students.
