Recruiting for ICE Club

We are currently recruiting new members for our ICE CLUB (Student Crew), these posts are open to all current students at Sheffield Hallam University and involve welcoming new students, leading a varied programme of social activities and promoting Go Global projects.

The jobs are advertised on SHU Space (under the careers and employment tab), you will need to submit your C.V and a covering letter before midday on Friday 27 March.

Prepare For The Fair – for international students

Careers and recruitment fairs are a great way to make a good first impression and network with potential employers. But what are the best ways to do this?

This practical, interactive workshop aims to help you:

  • feel more confident in knowing how to prepare for UK recruitment fairs / other events
  • understand different ways of interacting with UK employers (and give you the chance to ask questions about how things work in the UK)
  • gain a better understanding of what we mean by networking techniques
  • know how to build on contacts after the event

Innovation Award drop-ins

The Innovation Award is a funding opportunity for Sheffield Hallam University students and recent graduates that have new and innovative ideas for social enterprises.

There are two funding rounds a year where you can apply for up to £500 under our Start Up award to test out a business idea or run a project, or you can apply for up to £2,500 through the Grow It award for an established business idea. For more information and for examples of projects we have funded please check out the case studies.

The Innovation Award drop-ins give you the chance to discover more about the award and to speak to the Student Union’s Social Enterprise Team about your idea.

You can also attend a session to help you write a successful  application form  for the Innovation Award.

You will work in teams making business decisions with the aim of making the most profit! This is a great way to enhance your employability and business skills. Want to work in the UK after studies?

Would you like some visa advice?
If yes, then book a place on our Working in the UK after studies workshop.

We will look at all the possible visa routes for international graduates into full time work including:

• Tier 2 Scheme
• Tier 1 graduate entrepreneur
• Tier 5

The workshop will also focus on how to improve your employability and how you can make the most out of your time at Sheffield Hallam University. We will explain the visa rules and how to maximise your chances of success.
