International Career Enhancement (ICE) Club
ICE Club gives you the opportunity to develop employability skills and improve your chances for successful professional career.
ICE Club members are recruited twice a year, around October and March for the upcoming semester, and will be advertised on Unihub.
After completing a day’s training you will then receive information about forthcoming assignments to assist with, which can be any of the following:
- Welcoming new international students at the University and supporting the delivery of the orientation programmes
- Assisting in the delivery of an annual programme of social integration activities for Sheffield Hallam students
- Providing mentoring for international students on arrival or throughout the year, and advice to prospective international students face-to-face in presentations, or via webchats, mentoring forums or email
You will also be invited to attend skills development sessions and networking events. Sessions normally include a short briefing and an experiential game during which participants get the chance to practise specific skills such as leadership skills, team working, time management, communication skills and planning & project management skills
Feedback from previous members indicate that the ICE Club provides a valuable opportunity to develop cross-cultural skills and enhance their employability:
“I love being part of the club! It opens up opportunities to meet people from different cultural backgrounds and has opened me up to their individual cultural needs.”
“Really it has provided me an opportunity to develop my generic skill which would be much helpful in future.”
