Work is continuing well in Sheaf and EMB with no major work to report. Refurbishment of Sheaf level 1 and EMB level 2 is ongoing and work on the new Atrium is also progressing, with decking installation begun last week. There is some drilling and breaking out work continuing over the next few weeks in this area which could cause some noise disruption, but this should be intermittent and is being managed as far as possible.
From 20 July work will begin on repairing the guttering system around Sheaf. To facilitate this scaffolding will be erected along the Sheaf Street and Pond Street sides of Sheaf, which will be in place for about 16 weeks.
There will be a requirement at some point in the near future to instigate a full power shutdown of EMB to enable further work to take place. This will be over a weekend, most likely in August, and disruption to staff should be minimal.
Instances of staff using the goods entrance and service yard to access Sheaf and EMB during the works have reduced. However there are still a very small number of staff members attempting to use this route. Heavy vehicles and lifting equipment will continue to use this area for the foreseeable future, including delivery of steel for the atrium. It is very important, for the safety of everyone, that staff abide by these restrictions during the works.
Work will continue on the project over summer.
