The University takes great care in lighting the external spaces within our campuses to ensure the safety of our staff, students and visitors. As part of our commitment to finder greener ways of working we are upgrading our external lighting to smart LEDs.

Our new lights sense darkness, turning on automatically, they also sense movement, dimming when there are prolonged periods of inactivity, and reverting back to full brightness when motion sensors are activated. You may have already noticed the new external lighting at the City campus concourse between Sheaf and Eric Mensforth buildings and at Collegiate campus around the Learning Centre and Collegiate Hall – we’ve already received positive feedback on the new look lighting.

If you have any feedback on the new external lighting please email the FD Communications mailbox.
