Facilities Directorate lay on a range of events for Alzheimer’s Action Week

Did you know that over 40,000 people under 65 in the UK have dementia?

The FD Charity Board have organised a range of activities and events to support the national Alzheimer’s Action Week (21-25 May 2018) with the goals of raising valuable funds and increasing awareness.

Facilities Directorate have also set up a general JustGiving page for general donations and team challenges.

Dance Classes

Monday, 21 May 2018. 12pm – 1pm and 1pm – 2pm

The Stage – The Hubs

Kicking off Dementia Action Week will be 2 Ballroom and Latin dance sessions from FD Charity Board member and Professional Dancer – Sophie Wood. Sophie has 27 years dancing experience competing internationally and teaching. During Sophie’s many years competing she was a Regional and National champion numerous times.

Dancing and music appears to have a protective effect on the brain which could help to shield you from the on-set of dementia – so put on your dancing shoes, come down and have some fun while doing something good for your brain! Sophie will guide you through a few dances with lots of fun, laughing and enjoyment in a relaxed atmosphere.

Minimum £1 donation for each class.
