Registration and call for abstracts for the Creating Knowledge Conference
The inaugural University Creating Knowledge Conference will take place on Monday 18 June at Pennine Lecture Theatre, City Campus. It will provide an opportunity to present work associated with the three Creating Knowledge research and impact platforms:
- Healthy, Independent Lives;
- Thriving, Inclusive Communities, and
- Future Economies.
There will also be ample opportunity to explore the potential internal and external collaborations offered by the platforms and how they can be realised. The conference is open to all staff and PGR students; so, whether you’re already an established researcher, an early career researcher, your work supports research or you would like to get into research but aren’t sure how, please do register to join us. Please share this with PGR students in your area so they can attend, too.
The outline programme of the conference is as shown below and, in addition to parallel sessions based on the platforms, will include cross-cutting sessions on:
- Global Impact;
- Art as a Catalyst of Change, and
- Professional Practice.

Please register here by Friday 1 June. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Presentations and abstract submission
Abstracts for oral or poster presentations are welcomed from all staff and postgraduate research students.
Oral presentations should be 10 minutes long followed by five minutes for questions and discussion. There will also be a poster session during the lunch and tea intervals.
Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and should be submitted using this form before 12 noon on 18th May.
A programme committee comprising the PVC Research, four Assistant Deans for Research, the Director of the Graduate School, representatives of the Professoriate and an early career researcher will review the abstracts and make the selection for presentation.
