Staff and volunteers at the Students’ Union’s Student Advice Centre are thrilled to have received official confirmation of the service’s Advice Quality Standard (AQS) reaccreditation. AQS is a nationally recognised quality mark for organisations providing free, independent advice to members of the public.
The assessment report highlighted that the Student Advice Centre performed exceptionally well against the AQS Standard, with an impressive number of areas of good practice where the service exceeded the requirements to a significant extent. The assessor stated that “the whole team should be very proud of the high standards they have achieved and the considerable amount of work they have contributed to what is clearly an invaluable service to students.”
Maddy Parkinson, Advice and Wellbeing Manager, said “the team do indeed work extremely hard to provide a high quality service, and we aim to continually review and improve our offer. We are so pleased to be able to show students and colleagues that we are working to the best possible professional standards.”
The Student Advice Centre at the Students’ Union provides information, advice and representation to students on a range of issues including student funding, benefits, housing rights and academic matters such as appeals, complaints, and disciplinary hearings.
