Dates running until Tuesday 13 February 2018.
“Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with a particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion” (Miller & Rollnick, 2013).
Now in its thirteenth year, the Sheffield Hallam Motivational Interviewing (MI) workshop series has been delivered to over 3,000 front line health, fitness and clinical practitioners. With a complete programme of level 1, 2, 3 and ‘train the trainer’ workshops, the series is ideal for those wishing to gain an introduction to MI, continue their learning or indeed wishing to work toward becoming a MI trainer.
Who should attend a motivational interviewing workshop?
- health professionals working with patients across a range of health behaviours and rehabilitation including diet/nutrition, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, primary care, sport and exercise, social work and mental health
- practitioners wishing to become members of MINT and to attend train the trainers (TNT)
- educators aiming to integrate behaviour change counselling into their curriculum
- those working across a range of settings, practitioners working with clients in a counselling or advisory role.
