Job of the week

Job title: Hallam Award Co-ordinator
Salary: £26,495 to £32,548 per annum, dependent on experience (fixed term until 31/07/19)

Following the development and approval of a new Employability Plan we are looking for a dynamic individual, with a passion for enhancing student employability and engaging with students, to take a lead role in the development and co-ordination of our new Hallam Award. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Careers and Employability Service and, in partnership with the Sheffeld Hallam Student Union and our Directorate of Student Engagement, Evaluation and Research (STEER), to develop and deliver a new extra-curricular award that we will begin to roll out to all students from 2018/19.

The new Hallam Award is a key component of the the ‘Better Prepared Students’ element of our new Employability Plan. There is consistent evidence from the sector that involvement in extra-curricular activity brings benefits to students in terms of their overall success and well-being at University and afterwards. This sort of activity has benefits in terms of students’ development of skills, self-confidence and capacity for reflection which are features associated with employability and graduate success.

The new Hallam Award is a partnership between Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Hallam Students Union (SHSU) which will build upon the success of the SHSU’s current Hallam Award scheme to create a new and innovative approach to encouraging and recognising student participation in extra-curricular activities.
